Remember Me

CEF Regimental Documents

In 2004 when I began my Charley Bailey research in earnest, my only means of accessing his C.E.F. Regimental documents was by written request to the National Archives in Ottawa.

I mailed my hand written letter including my credit card information with an agreement to pay the $27 fee.  More than two months later I walked home from the post office with a great whopping package under my arm; a receipt for payment and 58 photocopied pages of Charley's complete military records.

Today we can go online to the Library and Archives Canada website where all the records of the Soldiers of the First World War are being digitized and made available free of charge.
It's a wonderful thing.
If you are looking for a Canadian ancestor who served in WW1, this is a marvelous place to begin.
